Legal Tread Depth
The legal minimum tread depth for cars in the UK and Northern Ireland is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tyre. We recommend replacing tyres at 3mm — stopping distances increase significantly below this threshold.
Correct Tyre Pressure
Under-inflated tyres increase fuel consumption, cause uneven wear and can overheat at motorway speeds. Over-inflation reduces grip and increases the risk of a blowout. Always check pressure when tyres are cold and refer to your vehicle handbook for the correct PSI.
Tyre Damage & Condition
Check for cuts, bulges, cracks or embedded objects in your tyres before long journeys. A sidewall bulge indicates internal structural damage and the tyre must be replaced immediately — it is at serious risk of sudden blowout.
